Kino Kabaret is open to anybody ready to become a producer, writer, director, actor, cameraman, soundman, or editor for 2 days, even if you don’t have any clue how it could be. 

The 5^th Kino Kabaret will start on Thursday 25^th Jan 2024 at 4 pm at Le Morgan cafe’ and ends on Saturday 27^th Jan with the screening of the films.

All films must be between 30 seconds and 6 minutes long and contain the 3 beforehand chosen items (Prop, Sound Effect, Line of Dialogue)

All films must be uploaded by Saturday 27 Jan at 4pm, and will be screened at MMC, Cinema Paradiso, from 4.30 to 6pm

The different film teams spread all over town for the next day for their shooting. Editing was done in the common meeting space at Town Hall, overlooking the outdoor venue space where all final films will be screened. CPUs and nerves were running hot towards the deadline on Sunday at 6 p.m. and culminated in…
Sunday, December 17th, 7 p.m. the concluding screening with an enthusiastic audience.

The Kabaret will begin with a meeting at the Centre d’Art, ground floor of the Citadines building, at 4pm on Friday 15th December 2017.
We will start with everybody writing down a line of dialogue, a prop and a sound effect on 3 separate pieces of paper and putting them into their individual box.
Each item will then be randomly chosen and have to appear in the finished films.
Participants will then be expected to propose their ideas and seek help and collaboration where needed to realise their films.
The editing space will be in the conference room on the first floor of the Town Hall and will be available from 10am on Saturday 16th until 6pm on Sunday 17th.
All films will be screened on the outdoor screen at the Town Hall at 7pm on Sunday 17th December 2017.

11 teams formed at the initial meeting at Centre d’Art – Citadine. All films had to contain a certain prop object, a dialogue line and a sound effect, which were drawn lots for by the participants at the beginning of the Kabaret.

Next time this will happen during the 5th Auroville Film Festival mid December….

Auroville Film Festival 2017 and MMC/CP are organising the first Kino Kabaret in Auroville. This will be a trial session to the Kino Kabaret that will be part of the Film Festival in December where the idea is to invite filmmakers from other Kino cells to create films.
The first Auroville Kino Kabaret will last 50 hours, from Friday the 8th of September at 2pm at Centre d’art Citadines until Sunday the 10th of September at 4pm, followed by the screening of the films at MMC/CP at 5pm.

To register, send an email to kino [at] auroville.org.in with the subject line “First AV Kino Kabaret” and the following information: name, email contact, phone number, what role (director/cameraperson/sound/editor/actor/performer/tailor/carpenter, etc.) interests you, and which equipment you have, if any.

– should have ‘Kino Auroville’ (text or logo) at beginning or end
– should have been made within one month before the screening
– should not have been screened before (including online)
– should be presented at the monthly screening by the filmmaker in person

Kino Auroville screening #001 featured 13 short-films with a total duration of 55 minutes. Each film had to be between 30 seconds and 6 minutes and it had to be just made within the preceding month. The results were astonishing – such a variety of genres, styles and contents with surprisingly high quality! The audience of 90+ film enthusiasts who found their way to Cinema Paradiso on this Saturday morning was clearly and audibly impressed.

The next Kino Auroville screening #002 will be on Saturday, December 3rd at 10 am at Cinema Paradiso and everybody is welcome to join in. Make your film now and just bring it to the screening. These are the requirements:

Kino Auroville is a project under MMC / Cinema Paradiso, a City Service of Auroville

13 ideas for short films to be made in the coming month were presented, one can be curious about how many short films will eventually be screened at the first Kino Auroville screening on Saturday, November 5th from 10 a.m. onwards at Cinema Paradiso.

It is planned to have Kino screenings every first Saturday of the month and to organize a KinoKabaret during the 5th Auroville Film Festival in December 2017.

Open to everyone with any collaborative spirit we would like to invite you to join us at 10 a.m on 1st October at the Cinema Paradisio (MMC) at the town hall. The session will last 2 hours.
We will introduce and explain the idea and hope to form individual crews to then go out and produce short films on a particular theme, within a given time-frame.

No need to have any film experience, just a desire to collaborate with friends and strangers alike with the ultimate aim of sharing the ‘finished’ film with all.
